So who is this guy?

Greg Cannon, AKA the Timedog

I was involved in the Alternative Arts Alliance in Denver for over a decade, entered oils in nine open shows, and served as president in 1998. I’ve always been interested in pop culture and art. In 2018 I started a series of digital paintings based on dreams and jokes I tell myself. Everything is allowed in a postmodern swirl. The stories sometimes get complicated, so I launched the Timedog Tours series on Youtube to explain the frame of mind that led to the composition. Whimsical, silly and fun, but also meaningful and poignant. I may be thinking about a movie, (iChart after watching iOrigins), a song (Chardonnay Says by Nood), or a story my grandmother told me (The Legend of King Canute). It could be a joke I tell myself when I’m half asleep (In Search of the Double Felix, Gangster’s Breakfast) or illustrating an idiom (DayBreak).

Photography doesn’t feel real enough for me so I repaint from raw outlines or use 3D modelling to get extreme lighting effects and make objects to fit the theme. Canvas has always meant art to me, so I print my pieces on archival canvas. It feels more genuine. Now semi-retired, I was a graphic designer and web manager for several companies and agencies in Denver and Washington, DC including the USPS HQ and Library of Congress.
